- Parkinson's Disease
- SYMPTOMS. A tremor in a hand is often the first sign and it may be followed
- by increasing tremors that may affect as much as the entire body. There will
- be a fixed facial expression, the eyes unblinking, muscles stiffen, drooling
- and other signs such as depression and cramplike pains in the limbs & spine.
- CAUSES are unknown at this time. It is a chronic disorder of the central
- nervous system and may affect the middle-aged and elderly. Certain drugs,
- such as strong tranquilizers, that are used for extensive periods, brain
- injury and poisoning by carbon monoxide or manganese produce similar signs.
- TREATMENT. There is no known cure. Medical treatment is effective for relief
